Many wedding photographers in Ghana still shoot with the Canon 5D Mark III, and many are thinking about moving to mirrorless with the Canon EOS R6. Both are full-frame cameras that take great pictures. The right choice depends on your budget, the events you shoot and how much video you do.

Image quality
Both cameras give clean, natural skin tones, which matters most at weddings. The 5D Mark III has slightly more megapixels, but the difference is not visible in normal prints or on social media. The R6 is cleaner at high ISO, so it handles dark church interiors and evening receptions better.
Autofocus: the biggest difference
This is where the R6 pulls ahead. Its eye detection follows the bride and groom as they walk down the aisle and keeps the eye sharp, even with the lens wide open. The 5D Mark III’s autofocus is reliable, but you choose the point yourself and need more practice to nail moving subjects in low light.
Video
If you also film weddings, the R6 is the clear choice. It records 4K, has in-body stabilisation for smoother handheld shots, and its autofocus tracks faces during video. The 5D Mark III records Full HD only and its video autofocus is slow.
Using your existing lenses
If you already own Canon EF lenses such as the 24-70mm f/2.8, you don’t need to replace them. The R6 takes EF lenses with Canon’s EF-to-RF adapter and keeps full autofocus. Our R6 full set comes with this adapter included.
Battery life
The 5D Mark III lasts longer on one battery because it has an optical viewfinder. With the R6, carry two or three spare batteries for a full wedding day. The good news: LP-E6 batteries from the 5D Mark III also fit the R6.
Price
At AchiTechBuy, the Canon 5D Mark III body is ₵8,000 and the Canon EOS R6 full set is ₵17,000. Both are 98% like new and tested before delivery. Prices change with stock, so check the product page for the current price.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the 5D Mark III if you shoot mostly photos, you’re starting your wedding business, or you want a reliable second body at a lower cost.
Choose the R6 if you shoot both photo and video, work in dark venues, or want autofocus that keeps up with fast moments without missing shots.
Many photographers use both: the R6 as the main camera and the 5D Mark III as a backup with a second lens.
